Full description

Kidney Vetch is a medium spreading plant with very narrow leaves and a fragile stem.  It produces clusters of yellow to orange, or even reddish, flowers.

It is one of the few plants that can survive on bare chalk soils and is common throughout southern England.

Kidney Vetch is the sole foodplant of the Small Blue butterfly.  It is also a nectar source for the Common Blue, Large Skipper, Ringlet, Small Blue and Small Heath.
