Full description

Germander Speedwell, or Bird's-Eye Speedwell, is a low growing plant with pretty blue/purple flowers with a white eye and toothed leaves, found mainly on moist, infertile alkali soil.

It can be introduced into short open grasslands, either in full sun or under dappled shade, and into hedgerows and open woodland.

Germander Speedwell is a useful food source for butterflies, especially the Heath Fritillary.
