Full description

Garlic Mustard is also known as Hedge Garlic or Jack-by-the-Hedge and is a biennial plant that appears in hedgerows and open woodland in early Spring with bright green leaves and clusters of small white flowers.

It is pollinated by bees, flies, butterflies and moths and the Orange Tip Butterfly lays its eggs on the leaves which then become a food source for the caterpillars.  The leaves smell of garlic when crushed and are good to eat, e.g. torn leaves in a salad.
