Full description
Bladder Campion produces fragrant white bell-like flowers with the characteristic swelling below the petals.
It prefers neutral to alkali soils that are dry and is generally found alongside paths and in open grassy or rough ground. It performs best with an autumn, or a spring and autumn cut. As a tall plant it can have a role at the backs of summer flowering banks.
The Bladder Campion is an important nectar source for butterflies and a favourite food plant of frog hoppers, the insects which create cuckoo spittle.
